Why do cats rub on their feet?

Why do you think the cat rubs against the owner’s feet? Creeps in? Asks for pens? Hints that it is time for lunch? Or maybe there is no reason and this is a feature of the behavior of a particular cat? About this in our article.

Cats are still individuals. There are no two identical. Nevertheless, they have many common habits: for example, the habit of rubbing against the feet of a beloved master.

So you go into the house after work, and the cat begins its ritual: it approaches your ankles, arches your back, purrs, kisses about you and as if hugs your legs with your tail, and so on. Of course, she is glad to see you and, perhaps, she really wants to see you in her arms, but the main message of such behavior is different.

The cat rubs on the legs of a person to mark him!

It sounds strange, but in fact it is the most vivid manifestation of love. Touching you with its muzzle, paws and tail, the cat leaves its smell on you: in these areas the cat has sebaceous glands that secrete the most odorous secret. Yes, we don’t feel this smell, but for cats it’s like a red warning light: “This is my master, he is from my pack, and you stay away and do not dare to offend him!”

Why do cats rub on their feet?
Particularly loving pets will not stop there and are also trying to lick the owner. Some can gently lick the cheek, while others carefully “kiss” both the hands, feet, and the host’s armpits. In general, cats have their own story with smells.

Pay attention to the behavior of the cat within the apartment. In a similar way, she comes with household items that she likes and which she considers her own: a couch, a scratching post, an armchair, and your favorite skirt. Do you notice how she fins and crushes their paws?

As soon as the cat feels that its label is “erased”, it updates it. Therefore, be sure that you and your apartment are almost around the clock under the name of your cat.

And my cat doesn’t rub on her legs!
Some cats rub on the feet of their owners more often, others less often. When the time comes to update the label, the cat decides according to its “internal” clock. However, if the pet never flounders on your legs, most likely this means that it does not trust you enough. There is something to work on, isn’t it?
