Do cats brush their teeth?

To maintain oral health, we brush our teeth twice a day. And what about our pets? Do cats need to brush their teeth or has nature foreseen everything?

Nature is nature, but the teeth of cats lose their whiteness in the same way. Plaque appears on them, which eventually turns into tartar, causes gum inflammation and destroys teeth. But if you regularly look after the pet’s oral cavity, all these problems can be avoided. How to do it?

A daily brushing would easily solve the problem: a toothbrush removes 80% of plaque in just half a minute! But how often do you meet cats who like this procedure? That’s right, there are none. So, we use other methods. We will please you: there are many of them!
Step 1. Proper nutrition.
Dental health directly depends on the nature of the diet. Any food that is not suitable for a cat is a burden on the oral cavity and the digestive system as a whole. But if a cat eats high-quality dry food, its teeth are safer. Dry granules mechanically remove plaque from the teeth and prevent the formation of tartar. Cat’s teeth are cleaned right with food. And no water, brushes or paste!
Step 2. Dental goodies.
A cat’s diet is not only the main food, but also the treats with which you pamper it. And they should also be helpful. The combination of good dry food and dental treats is a double blow to plaque. Dental treats clean off a coating that dry granules could not cope with and refresh your breath. You need to choose special series for oral health and fresh breath. In pet stores there are many such delicacies. This, for example, crunchy pads “Healthy teeth” from “Mnyams”, as well as any dry goodies (necessarily good quality!).

Step 3. Safe food supplements for dental health.
Another method for controlling plaque and stone is special nutritional supplements, such as ProDen PlaqueOff, a natural algae supplement. Unlike other means, they do not act briefly, but systemically, that is, tooth protection is provided 24 hours a day. Once in the body as an additive, beneficial substances are excreted along with saliva and prevent the formation of plaque. The result is usually noticeable after a couple of weeks.

Step 4. Useful toys.
Properly selected toys are not only a way to diversify leisure activities, but also effective help in maintaining health. For dental and oral care, special dental toys are used (for example, Orka Dental banana, wheel and “Mint leaf” from Petstages). Such toys cleanse plaque, massage the gums and freshen the breath. Be sure to present a couple to your cat!

Step 5. Preventive examinations at the veterinarian.
Dental problems do not always occur due to poor nutrition. They can be hereditary or provoked by other factors. Therefore, even if the cat eats well and looks great, it still needs to be regularly taken for inspection. Timely detection of a problem will allow you to stop it as soon as possible and significantly save your budget.

Step 6. Listen to a specialist.
Depending on the condition of the teeth, the veterinarian gives various recommendations. Some cats need a balanced diet, others need a special toothpaste brushing, others need to undergo treatment, for example, remove tartar. Procedures can be expensive, but the faster you get started, the better. Dental problems do not go away on their own. Procrastination will inevitably lead to a worsening of the situation and, consequently, to large expenses.
