Any cat can have parasites: it doesn’t matter if she walks on the street or not. Where fleas appear in a domestic cat, read the previous article. What to do if protecting the pet from infection fails? How to rid a cat of fleas?

Cat Fleas: Symptoms
It’s hard not to notice a cat’s fleas. Infection is asymptomatic only in the early days. But fleas breed quickly and cause the cat more and more anxiety. The pet begins to itch, often licks its hair, “bites” it in attempts to catch torturers. Bites and combs appear on the skin, and even black “grains of sand” – flea excrement. And, of course, direct confirmation is the parasites themselves. You can see them on an animal or even somewhere in the apartment.

If the cat is worried about itching, but you have not found traces of parasites, contact your veterinarian. Most likely, the pet has a dermatological disease.

Are fleas dangerous for cats?
Fleas are potential carriers of dangerous diseases and helminth eggs. The wounds left from their bites become a gateway for infection. If there are a lot of fleas, a kitten or a weakened cat may even start anemia. In addition, due to infection in pets, severe dermatitis occurs.

In addition to the above, fleas cause great discomfort to the cat. She itches all the time, she hurts. The body experiences stress and weakens. The faster you start the fight against parasites, the better.

How to get fleas from a domestic cat? 5 steps.
It is not difficult to breed fleas in a cat at home. The main thing is to choose high-quality products.

If the cat is dirty, you must first bathe it. If not, go straight to flea processing.
1. We buy a cat.
Wash your pet with a special antiparasitic shampoo. It should fit your cat. Carefully read the appointment and follow the instructions for use, otherwise there will be no effect.

Flea shampoos help to destroy part of the parasites, but, unfortunately, they do not guarantee 100% effect and do not provide further protection. After washing, a more serious treatment is carried out, which gives a lasting effect.

Flea treatment is carried out 48 hours before swimming or 48 hours after it!
2. We process from fleas.

2 days after bathing, treat the cat from fleas. There are a lot of remedies: these are sprays, drops at the withers, pills, collars. Each of them has its own characteristics. Before buying, carefully read the description and instructions for use. Make sure that the product is suitable for the pet.

Please note that collars provide protection against new fleas, but do not destroy existing ones. It is necessary to put on a collar on a cat after parasites will be removed.

One of the most popular anti-flea remedies is drops at the withers. They are easy to use and very efficient. The cat will not be able to lick the product, so it is completely safe. When applied, drops through the sebaceous glands are evenly distributed over the skin and coat of the animal, and the parasites in contact with it die.

How to get fleas in cats?
It is important to correctly calculate the dosage of the product. Determine the weight of the pet and follow the instructions.

Sprays can be treated not only the pet, but also his bed, furniture and carpets in the apartment. This will quickly destroy both adult parasites and their larvae. Pills are especially convenient if the cat has sensitive skin or allergic reactions.

If you are in doubt about choosing a remedy, consult your veterinarian.

All cats and dogs in the house need to be treated for fleas!

3. We process a stove bench.

Adult parasites live on the pet, but their pupae and larvae live outside it. For example, on a couch or other place where the cat is resting. To cope with parasites faster, treat such places with a special spray. The lounger can be washed or replaced.

4. We carry out deworming.

Fleas carry helminth eggs. Therefore, an animal infected with fleas is likely to become infected with helminths. As soon as you cope with external parasites and the cat gets stronger, go on to fight with internal ones! Be sure to deworm the pet so that nothing threatens its health.

5. We process it regularly.

A guarantee of flea protection is the regular use of a quality drug. Read how much your chosen remedy works. As soon as the protection period begins to expire, update it.

Do not overdo it. In attempts to protect the pet, many inexperienced owners begin to combine protective equipment: for example, they use both drops and a collar. This can be dangerous for the animal! As a rule, one drug is enough, in addition, many drugs are poorly combined with each other. Read the instructions carefully!

Cat fleas: what to do?
A cat that is regularly treated with an effective flea remedy can walk outside or chat with other animals without the risk of infection. However, do not lose vigilance and do not forget that in addition to fleas, there are other dangers.
